Physical Education
Physical Education (P.E.) is a key component of our curriculum. We believe that physical education, offered in a safe and supportive setting, plays a crucial role in fostering the physical, emotional, and health development of every child. Our aim is to provide a diverse range of activities, including individual, team-based, and competitive sports, to accommodate the varying needs and abilities of our children. We are committed to offering engaging, challenging, and enjoyable learning experiences for all, promoting an understanding of the numerous benefits of physical activity through a well-rounded selection of activities. At our school, Physical Education serves as a platform for children to explore cross-curricular themes, skills, and dimensions, rather than focusing solely on motor skills and techniques.
Children participate in regular weekly P.E. sessions as part of their timetable. At Summerside, we employ qualified coaches to deliver high-quality P.E. instruction. Collaborating with these external experts, we design a curriculum that meets the needs of our children. Pupils are introduced to a variety of sports, including dance, gymnastics, and games like volleyball, along with sessions designed to build fundamental skills and movement. Additionally, swimming lessons are a part of the P.E offer for Year 4 and Year 5 students. We also offer a wide range of extracurricular sports clubs for children from Year 1 to Year 6.
